After watching this video, you may consider going back here to get a good sense of the difference between the police in North America and in Europe.
In 2009, an Oklahoma state trooper named Daniel Martin pulled over a Creek Nation ambulance transporting a patient and went on total power trip because the ambulance, which wasn’t running lights at the time, didn’t yield to him, as he was responding to a call. Once he arrived on scene, he saw it was handled, and went back after the ambulance. After a total powertrip, he proceeded to choke the paramedic.
This same trooper Daniel Martin was unanimously voted out of his position as police chief in 2000, placed on leave after an excessive use of force claim in 2009, and removed from a special assignment for showing “inappropriate photos” to other cops while assigned to the Cadet Lawman Academy for high school seniors.
Tulsa World quoted the Oklahoma Highway Patrol public affairs spokesman George Brown as saying that “he’s heard nothing negative about Martin’s professional service outside of this claim and both 2009 incidents…”
What diplomatic sweet talk. That’s like saying that outside of all the abuse of authority and other similar shit Daniel Martin’s done, he hasn’t heard anything bad about the abuser.
Daniel Martin interfered with EMS in the course of their duty. He should have been arrested and imprisoned for reckless public endangerment. But instead, his buddies will “investigated” the incident, since it went public, and justified the abuse by whitewashing it with sweet talk about serving and protecting the public:
“He puts on a uniform daily to protect and serve and do a good job for citizens,” Brown said. “We’ll deal with (the allegation) in-house and if we determine there was a violation of policy we will handle it appropriately.”
Bottom line is – the cop improperly pulled over an emergency vehicle which was in the performance of duty and had a patient in the back, and as soon as he was informed there was someone in the car, he was required by law to let the ambulance complete the performance of medical care. Which he failed to do. And for that, all he faced was a suspension with no pay lasting 5 days.
The people who appear in the video during the powertrip are the family of the elderly lady who was being transported. This is what happens when you call the cops!
