Supporters of Political Prisoner Kostas Sakkas Attacked by Greek Police

Kostas Sakkas is a Greek anarchist who was imprisoned on bogus gun possession and terrorism charges. I myself am not an anarchist nor do I support anarchism (aka far leftism), but the fact that Kostas Sakkas was an anarchist is irrelevant. He was a proponent of an ideology that was frowned upon by the Greek government and for that he was thrown in prison where he’s been for 3 years without a trial. The government wanted him silenced and simply found a way to do it. This really is not about anarchism, it’s about government silencing critics and advocates of different ideologies, whatever they may be.

Luckily not all Greek people are dumb sheeple who swallow everything mainstream media tells them to. There are those who understood that Kostas Sakkas was a political prisoner and because Kostas’ voice was taken away from him, they took to the streets to be his voice. On Wednesday July 10, 2013 the aware Greeks held a demonstration in support of political prisoner Kostas Sakkas and marched through Athens.

Just as the protesters were under the Acropolis at Thisio, they were intercepted by several Delta Force and Dias policemen, the former of whom are known for their brutality. Once the demonstrators were off the sight of tourists, the cops separated a middle aged protester from the group and beat him with batons and fists. Other protesters came to his aid but were countered with stun grenades and more brutality.

10 protesters were reportedly arrested and two charged with resisting arrest, ie bogus charges enforcers of police states such as Canada like to utilize after subjecting civilians to mistreatment and torture.

Kostas Sakkas has been on hunger strike since June 4, 2013 – after 30 months of detention without trial. Latest news has it that he was just released upon warning by a doctor that Kostas was at the final stage of life, facing irreversible damage to eyesight, heart, kidneys and liver if not released to resume normal life.
