Cop Kicks Surrendered and Handcuffed Suspect in the Head

In this video, filmed by a national guard helicopter providing air support for local law enforcement (the fuck?), a fleeing suspect (a meth head) decides to give up and surrender. He lays face down on the ground and holds his hands out. A cop proceeds to cuff his hands behind his back at which point another cop joins the party and kicks the suspect in the head.

Can a citizen do anything at all in this day and age that a cop would not consider “resisting arrest”? As we’ve seen with Eric Garner, not even dying can save you from police brutality.

Given the state of police in North America, all “Resisting Arrest” charges should be arbitrarily dismissed, unless there is indisputable evidence in form of a video or a non-cop testimony to support it. And so should be all other bullshit charges abused by police to frame citizens, including assault on an officer, disturbing the peace, obstruction of justice, etc.

Another thing that needs to change, given the state of police in North America, is the impunity with which the police abuse citizens. The kind of completely out of line behavior demonstrated in this video deserves adequate punishment. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for these abusers to be punished at all, let alone punished adequately outside of the dreaded and awfully draconian punishment of a short-term paid vacation from work.

You can rest assured that not only will the abuser not face any meaningful corrective action, but also none of the other cops or DAs will come forward and press charges on the bully that did it. Yet we still get bombarded by police apologists who continue to claim that “most” cops are good cops, and the ones in all the videos are just a few bad apples.

Torture is defined as:

…the action or practice of inflicting severe pain on someone as a punishment or to force them to do or say something, or for the pleasure of the person inflicting the pain.

Torture is torture – it doesn’t matter if it lasts one minute, one hour or one year. The cop tortured the guy for no reason.

The incident happened in Kansas City. Michael Chinn and Kip Bartlett – two plainclothes detectives, members of the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force were reportedly going to serve Timothy Whittle a search warrant for materials used to manufacture methamphetamine. Timothy Whittle boarded a vehicle and took off, leading the officers on a high speed chase.

The reports filed by officers Michael Chinn and Kip Bartlett make no mention of the kick to the head.
