A horrific video from Lebanon shows Lebanese parents encouraging their child to beat a defenseless Syrian boy. Several people, including a woman can be heard egging the child on to hit harder, and order the victim to make himself an easier target by putting his arms behind his back and kneeling.
The child that does most of the beating looks like a girl with that pony tail, but apparently it’s a boy, and apparently his name is Abbas.
The victim doesn’t say much and mostly just sobs as he’s being beaten. Abuse and mistreatment is probably all he’s known over the past few years.
Abbas beats the Syrian with a stick, but also slaps him with bare hands and delivers kicks to him with his foot. There is also an older boy who steps in on a few occasions to add a few slaps of his own.
Lebanese authorities from the the Bekaa said they are taking the video seriously and are investigating the case. A raid has reportedly been carried out in the al-Raml al-Ali area in Dahieh to arrest the father.
In my opinion, it is hard to blame the child, for he’s too young to properly understand the consequences of his actions. His parents on the other hand ought to be beyond ashamed for instigating hatred and teaching their child to be evil at such a young age.
UPDATE
The Internal Security Forces of Lebanon arrested the father and cousin of Abbas who video taped the beating. Abbas is only two year old. The victim is a 9 year old Syrian refugee identified as Khaled N.
